It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See Ya Later

I really hate goodbyes. So when at all possible I don’t say it. I just say, “See ya later.” And in the case of a good friend moving thousands of miles away I am definitely in the ‘see ya later’ frame of mind. We will miss seeing Stacy and Delaney enormously when they move to Arizona next month…but since I am already plotting a trip to go and visit them I feel a little better about it. A little.

We hosted a party so that we could all get together and give them a nice send-off. And it turned out to be a blast! The kiddos were all incredibly well-behaved. And the parents were, too. Sort of. We only got a little crazy. See picture below for proof:

Grant and the Girls

[ Lina (who provided me with this hilarious pic that her daughter took), Shawna (in front), Jen, Jenny, Me, Stacy, Grant and Delaney :-) ]

I would like to note that this was not my idea (*cough* Shawna *cough*) but that Grant was a super good sport about all of the ladies wanting to hold him and … wait a second! Of course he loved it!!! LOL! I would also like to add that that’s MY hand between his legs, thank you very much. I was laughing so hard I could hardly hold him!

It was also extra fun because I FINALLY got to meet Lina and her awesome kids! After years of following each other’s blogs and adopting boys who are almost exactly the same age (9 days apart, I think) we needed to meet…so meet we did! What a sweetie she is! I love meeting bloggy friends in person because then they become REAL friends ;)

We were outside playing with toys and bikes and bubbles…and sidewalk chalk.

good luck

Here’s a good shot of Delaney, Sophia and Kina … the eldest of our little group of toddler friends.

Thanks for making some good memories with us, friends!

We love you, Stacy and D. It’s not goodbye….

Ah, what to even say.

First and most importantly, we've got to mention that no Octo-Dads were harmed in the taking of that photo! Grant is such an awesome sport. I have got to get a copy of that one (and the one of Soph, Kina and D, please!).

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for hosting the little get-together. It was just such a fun evening, except for the parts where I was holding back tears (unsuccessfuly).

You're right though, it's not goodbye. I miss you already, even though we'll hopefully have one more get together!!!

Aww, that is so cool. The photo of Grant is awesome! and the ladies too of course. Good luck Stacy! So great Anne, that you have this group of supportive Adoptive parents.

That's exactly what my best friend said to me when I was leaving California after nearly 12 years there. I started to cry when I was leaving her house and she wouldn't let me say goodbye....she just kept saying "see ya later". You are so right Anne. It's much better than a goodbye!

And I love the picture! You have me laughing watching you laugh so hard! :)

SO fun and so many great pictures! I haven't met Stacy (yet) but I am sure it's hard to say "see you later" to two wonderful people!
